Wren to the Rescue by Sherwood Smith

Title: Wren to the Rescue (Wren Book #1)
Author: Sherwood Smith
Reviewer: Karen
Genre: YA Fantasy
Rating: Fabulous
Alerts/Warnings: None
Premise: "With the help of a prince and an apprentice wizard, Wren strives to rescue her best friend, a princess named Tess, from the fortress of a wicked king." (King County Library)
Opinions: This is a fantastic book for teenage female readers who wonder why it seems that boys always get to be the ones going on adventures. This is an easy fantasy read where the heroine, who lives in an orphanage, discovers that her best friend is a real princess, Tess, hiding from an evil sorcerer. When she goes with Tess to return to her family, thinking that it is now safe, they soon discover how wrong they were when Tess is kidnapped. Its then up to Wren, and a few unlikely assistants, to do all they can to save Tess. This is an easy read, but one full of fun and adventure. In fact, I just had my husband read it to see what he thought and he quite enjoyed it and is now in the middle of reading the last book in the trilogy. So it would seem that the book is fun even for guys to read.
