House of Secrets by Jeffrey S. Savage

Title: House of Secrets
Author: Jeffrey S. Savage
Reviewer: Karen
Genre: Adult Mystery/Suspense - LDS Fiction
Rating: Like
Alerts/Warnings: Murder
Premise: When Shandra discovers a body, long since dead, in her grandmother's house, which suddenly disappears, she is shocked and determined to solve the mystery. But when she returns with the police, the body is missing - and a new dead body is in its place. And all the evidence points to Shandra. (PG Library System)
Opinions: Shandra Covington is a reporter for the Twin Forks Newspaper in Salt Lake City, Utah. Though she has returned to Echo Lake to put her grandmother's (who died two weeks earlier)house up for sale, she finds her investigation comes into play when she discovers the mummified remains of a body in her grandmother's bedroom. When she goes to the police with the information, she finds herself being arrested for a murder that was committed since she arrived in town. Instead of finding the body that she had told the police about, they had discovered the body of someone else. Once her best friend Bobby, a Salt Lake police officer, sends a lawyer to get her out of jail, Shandra is determined to find out the truth of what happened in her grandmother's home and whether or not her grandmother was involved.

This is an interesting mystery with an incredibly likable, spunky, bullheaded main character. I found it impressive that such a strong female character was written by a male author. I think Jeffrey Savage did a great job. Though I do have to say that even though the story was resolved at the end the author did leave one little twist on the last page making me desperate to read the next story. So not fair, at least its already printed.
