Far World: Water Keep by J. Scott Savage

Sorry for the delay in any updates over the last two weeks. I took a brief reading hiatus after the last giveaway and now I'm back on track.

Title: Far World: Water Keep
Author: J. Scott Savage
Reviewer: Karen
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Rating: Fabulous
Alerts/Warnings: None
Premise: Found in the desert as a baby by monks who named him, thirteen-year-old Marcus, who has been confined to a wheelchair ever since he can remember, knows nothing of his background and endures the difficulties of his daily life in various foster homes and schools by dreaming of Farworld, a magical place whose pull seems to be getting increasingly stronger.(PG Library System)
Opinions: This is an extremely fascinating take on young adult fantasy where two youth or torn between two separate worlds and trying to travel between Earth and Far World in order to save them both. I love the two main characters, Marcus and Kyja, and the friendship they build as they realize that they need each other in order to survive against the Dark Circle which is striving to destroy them both before they can put an end to the Dark Circle's plans. I also love Kyja's dragon-like friend, Riph Raph the skyte, and his sarcastic nature. The magical characters are imaginative, the scenery incredible, and the storyline intriguing. This is a definite must read, but keep in mind that this is the first book in a series and the only one published at this time. So if you don't like to read series until they are completely finished you might want to wait, because I've read the first book and now I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next installment to be released this fall.
